the titAN COMMUNITY

Since the inception of the Titan Program in 2009 and with the support of compassionate families, friends, volunteers and the local community, the Titan Community has grown to more than 100 physically challenged young adults. The Titans are young adults who face challenges due to conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, and physical injury - some who also have some minor, secondary intellectual challenges.

The mission of the Titan Program is to address the isolation and loneliness that can occur when physically challenged young adults age out of high school programs. What has developed over the past 14 years is a robust schedule of events, including Titan Wheelchair Sports (focused more on fun, than competition) and Titan Social Events - both in-person and virtual via a new program called Champions Community Connect.

All of our programs are offered at minimal or no charge. Our focus is inclusion of the individual, as well as their families and friends, into the community at large. These activities help build friendships, acceptance, and support within the Community. The Titans also serve as community ambassadors, fostering understanding and education about the capabilities of those with physical disabilities.

We also offer a program called Champions Place@Home which enables many of our Titans still living at home with their parents to become more self-reliant and independent through assistive technology.
